Being a Lowcountry wedding photographer is like going to work on the natural world playground every day. We are lucky to have an abundance of venues that range from places of worship, hotels, parks, resorts and beaches to fit almost any style or whimsy.
Clients have expanded our horizons to all of the beauty that exists beyond downtown Charleston and surrounding islands. Usually it is a previous bride’s sister or relative that we can’t resist. Thanks to our awesome couples, we have experienced weddings in Mount Pleasant, Litchfield, West Ashley, North Charleston and Pawleys Island. We were able to explore the blooms and Southern grace of the Governors Mansion in Columbia. We had epic photo opportunities in the Railroad Depot’s in both Savannah GA and Atlanta GA. While James keeps his passport ready at all times, it is hard to do better than Lowcountry goodness and charm.
Charlestown Landing has two wedding venues Legare-Waring and Founder’s Hall that are complete opposites and yet equally awesome depending on your style. Guests get an immersive experience in nature while being 15 minutes from downtown Charleston.
Legare-Waring House is all grand oaks with Spanish Moss, the oak alley, a house where everyone has space to get ready and it is relatively private.
Founder’s hall is rustic,modern lines with high ceiling and a screened in porch with a welcoming fireplace. It is also a pragmatic space as if the weather turns the ceremony can seamlessly shift to the screened porch.
Down the road, Magnolia Plantations and Gardens has soo many picturesque vignettes that it is a must to pre-plan your top 5 favorites between two reflective bridges, live oaks galore, grand house and blooms abound.
Then to shake it up the Porter room offers a creek and marsh view with an industrial space for our casual couples with tons of friends and family. It is a good time indoors and out.

Moving towards Mount Pleasant and beyond, I’on Creek Club, Salty Oak Farm and Pavilion at Pepper lean towards relaxed, Southern hospitality feel. Real wedding blog post of each venue below.
I’on Creek Club’s deep porches are perfect transitions from the lush outdoorsy ceremony to an indoor reception with air conditioning and a ready to go dance floor.
Salty Oak Farm is very private and feels like elevated Southern living with a farm-to-table vibe. The red barn adds a pop of fun color admist the trees and animals.
Pavilion at Pepper is a fancy pants barn with great fireplaces and porches that overlook a pond. It is spacious with lots of areas to gather.

The Citadel Beach Club is one of the few venues on the Ocean. It’s clubhouse has wrap around porches and a second floor look out that is perfect for birds’ eye view photography. And sunset photos on the beach are always a win.
Dunes West is tucked back in a gated golf community and overlooks a sunset rich creek. Ceremonies are often under one of the oaks. Balconies, arches, brick and stairs make for some stunning visuals and overall perspective.
Daniel Island Club also sits with a view of saltwater creeks and marsh with a picturesque boardwalk. The ballroom is spacious and effortless.

Brookgreen Gardens reminds me of the Secret Garden. Imagine outdoor garden rooms accompanied by water features and sculpture art. This is a venue where a tent is a given and you will get your steps in, but the beauty is alive.
Debordieu Clubouse is another tucked away venue that is striking with the oak alley, multiple staircases and marsh views.
Finally, Litchfield Plantation. The house is charming. The oaks are grand. The marsh is quiet.
