We are big on your photos being a reflection of you. With your home as the backdrop, we automatically have more opportunity to weave in pieces of you. It might be a special blanket, a piece of art that perhaps you or a loved one created, the color palette of your home and it’s little bits of expression here and there. It is the place you and your newborn feel at home. And feeling at home definitely translates in photography. So, invite us in and let’s play.
Opening Christmas cards is like a holiday warm-up with warm wishes, love and smiles flowing. We are Christmas card slackers. Big time. In fact, we usually get ourselves together for a mass send out about every 4 years. So in the meantime we ride the wave of knowing that our images are a part of others sharing and joy!
This sweet family was the first sporting MCG images to arrive this year. So if your card includes an MCG smile and you have an extra, send it our way! We will ask permission to post. Promise.
Clients often ask about how weather affects our work. My pollyannaish answer is that all weather has a benefit. It is in how you look at it. And through the years we have had to contend with all sorts of different weather conditions.
We have a timeless image of a couple kissing under an umbrella during and engagement session. We have a fun image of a wedding party on the porch of an old house while I held the umbrella for James to shoot. We have had a bride start her ceremony under the sky and finish it under a tent. In all cases these images have become favorites not only to the clients but to future clients who are pointing out what drew them to us.
One morning the fog rolled in, and stayed in, for our scheduled family portrait. Luckily we have photographed this particular family over the years and they were open to a session wrapped in fog. We improvised, used the environment we were given, and the results even surprised us.
So please know that if adverse weather happens, which on a coastal town is more the rule than the exception, we do our best to find the magic in it.
James and I are animal lovers. Or, more specifically, cat, dog and horse lovers. So when a peacock and calf choose to collaborate in our portrait session at Middleton Place, we are cautiously open to it. The little one must be in the animal whisperer camp because her interaction with the peacock and calf were magic. Loved capturing those moments of awe, wonder and even a little assertion.
We love to keep our clients forever and ever. It is no easy task since many are out of city or state. To our delight it is not uncommon that once visiting Charleston couples and families put it on their yearly calendar. And when the stars align, we get to see our couples and their families grow and change.
An absolutely awesome part of photographing former wedding client’s families is the initial comfort. The trust has already been established and the parents start relaxed. The kids follow the parents lead and allow us to play and interact with them.
This particular couple is a favorite. Capturing everything from the proposal, the wedding, sharing the news of the pregnancy with family, pregnancy and their little miss every 4-5 months, we have been a witness to their joy. Then after captured, we get to give their joy back to them in images!
