Edisto Island is now in our Lowcountry photography rotation of locations! So grateful this sweet family invited us out to document their family getaway. As we spend most of our sunsets ocean side, it was fun to shake it up with river side fun. It had rained the day before and the back yard looked like a shallow pond, but their ‘can do’ attitudes translated into awesomeness.
The backyard sat on the river and had this beautiful dock with railings on one side. For visuals, it was a perfect way to get a ‘follow-the-leader’ image that captures age/size and their reflections on in one. We utilized the floating dock for the whole group, candid and solos by shifting and adjusting as the light changed. Dad is nautical by nature, so we leaned into that look. The swurfer action shot was simply a little one showing us her moves. The kiddos brought their shades for the cool peeps photo. Finally, the rental had twinkle lights hanging which we switched on for some sparkle and mood as the sun set.
It was during Covid and pivoting was required. This was not their first pick for a vacation spot, but it turned out to be a gem for connection, outdoors and memories.
