MCG’s Top Three Kiawah Wedding Venues

Our top three Kiawah Wedding Venues are River Course, Ocean Course and the Sandcastle. Kiawah Island is the spot to host your luxury destination wedding with Southern hospitality. The low-country vistas of each venue provides a setting for a charming and natural photographic setting.

The River Course is tucked away between grand oak trees and the river surrounded by golf greens and feels like serenity. It offers a very private experience. Ceremonies either facing the river under an open blue sky, or the front of the building and the oak branches as their frame. Their kitchen is delicious and their staff knows how to throw an effortless celebration. The ballroom is open with clean lines that allows it to absorb the style of each couple while the bar and porches give guests rooms to connect while the dance floor is in full swing. Photographically, the extras are the men’s locker room, the balcony which allows us a birds eye view during the ceremony and a photograph of everyone together, when palmetto tree silhouettes, wowsers sunsets, white ceilings for great light during reception and all the various aspects of nature framing in a stunning day. The Ocean Course is almost the last stop on the Island, so give yourself an extra 20 minutes to get there. If you love golf and an expansive view of the ocean, this is your spot. There are spaces/rooms for everyone to get ready onsite. We often use the front porches for coastal feel with soft light prior to the ceremony and embrace the full sun and magic hour afterwards. Receptions are either in the main dining room or tented with an unspoiled view. The kitchen keeps everyone’s taste buds happy. Photographically, the contrast of the Lowcountry front porches, swaying sweetgrass and magic hour light creates a full photographic experience. Explore Ocean Course Photography blog posts

The Sandcastle was renovated a few years ago and made a comeback. It’s porch view remains a local favorite of pool, Palmetto trees, dunes, sand and ocean. If you want to get your feet in the sand on your wedding day while enjoying air conditioning for your reception, the Sandcastle is your place. An all purpose venue that works for weddings, rehearsals and smaller events. Catering is brought in so you can go in any direction. As it is closer to the entrance of Kiawah, ceremonies are either on site or at one of the Johns Island Churches. The Sandcastle tends to attract our laid back, go with the flow couples that want to gather all there people for a great time with a stunning view. Photographically, we utilize the porches for perspective, boardwalk for beach vibe and grand oaks next door for Southern flare. Explore Sandcastle Wedding Photography blog posts

Essentially, there is no wrong direction. Chances are there is one that resonates with you, is available on your date and fits your budget. They are all lovely and they will all convert at least a portion of your guests to come back again and again.
