Gibbes Presents : Art Actually

“Art actually is all around! From the clothes you wear to the food you eat and the video games you play, the arts are an integral part of our lives.” - Gibbes Museum

The Gibbes Museum utilized their whole space to move the kids through the museum with play and curiousness while collaborating with :

• Charleston County Public Library - story time is always a hit. The readers draw the kiddos in with song, interactive sounds, thoughtful questions and getting the wiggles out between books.

• local chefs Chefs Kevin and Rhonda Mitchell of Chef Scholar and The Drizzled Pear prepared a delicious soup from local produce and had samples for everyone. Yum.

• Artfully-inspired yoga guide kiddos and parents through a serious of shapes and end it with a veil dance.

• garden expo full of creativity and stations for an interactive experience and did I say…bunnies!

• meet and greet with artist Beth Williams in her exhibition Between You and Me.

• musical performances from school of the Arts Chamber group in the Rotunda.

All the senses were engaged as the kids moved through the gallery and participated in creating panels for the Art Charleston installation. The kids get a kick out of seeing their piece of the whole hanging in the main hallway at the Gibbes. And the day was FREE.
