Schooner Pride Wedding

As a wedding photographer, it is one of the highest compliments when a sister of a former bride reaches out. Mary and Chris’ said their vows in Charleston followed by a sunset sail Schooner Pride Wedding reception with their closest family. Their grand party reception took place a month later in California. We were honored to document the Charleston portion of their wedding!

Holy Spirit Greek Church Vows

Mary and Cris spoke their vows at Holy Spirit Greek Church which is domed, circular and has amazing acoustics. Greek wedding ceremonies has some unique elements such as the Stefana wedding crowns that are connected by a ribbon and ceremonial walking around the table three times. The ceremony is slow, paced and reverent. For photographers, the space is extra special as we are able to move about without being scene and get various angles and expression. We also know that the important ceremonial elements except the first kiss will happen three times, so the we have lots of opportunities to get in the perfect spot for the magic moment.

Schooner Pride Wedding Reception Sunset Cruise

After some family photos and a costume change to a nautical inspired look. The bride, groom and family all regrouped to board the Schooner Pride which hugged the downtown Charleston shore for a different point of view. The kids each got a turn at the helm to steer the ship. The bride and groom had the opportunity to release the sails. Drinks were shared. The guests were able to move about, find a favorite spot, enjoy each others company and take in the view. One of my favorite images is the couple sitting at the front of the Schooner Pride looking into the sunset. What a great way to kick off married life. The sail was relaxed, playful, celebratory and docked directly after sunset.
