Mills House Wedding - bold florals, intimate guest list

These two brought their families together for a tender and joyful celebration of LOVE at their Mills House Wedding. The colors bold except for the pastel pink of the Mills House itself which is a Charleston staple of it’s own. The guest list was intimate and the first dance song, “Always Remember Us this Way” by Lady Gaga was a winner.
Getting Ready : The bride got ready in their Mills House room with black and white art adorning the walls that seemed hand picked for the bride. She loves to dance and Flamenco is her ‘go to’. All to say, her getting ready with veil, ear-rings and perfume all visually looked like a slow motion dance. She popped into the reception ballroom to take in the room’s set-up by Engaging Events.
White Point Gardens Ceremony : The family and couple met under the Gazebo in White Point Gardens or as locals call it ‘The Batterie’. The brides’ son walked her up the aisle. The vows were short, sweet and tender. Charleston Bows and Strings added their musical touch to the ceremony. Afterwards we gathered all their favorite people on the steps of the Gazebo to get an all in one photo. Pedi cabs from Charleston Richshaw pedaled the guests to the Mills House for cocktail hour while we grabbed some photo-gold of the couple in the Charleston streets.
Cocktail and Reception at the Mills House :
My favorite food aspect of weddings are the hors d’ouvres because the chefs often get a chance to play with flavors and presentations. They went with buffalo chicken croquettes with hot honey, penang shrimp with sweet tai chili dipping and caprese skewers with pesto. YUM. The cocktail hour was held on the second floor balcony with a view of Charleston and a cooling breeze. The reception in the Planters Suite which might have the best balcony for couples portraits… was the spot for buzzing conversation, laughter and later dance floor fun. The flamenco moves were strong in this crowd. For those without the flamenco technique, they brought dancing enthusiasm.
