Ocean Course Wedding : album design & blog link
The couple chose Kiawah because it is their favorite place in the world and after that an Ocean Course Wedding is a no brainer. It was their haven during a long distance relationship. With a preference for natural beauty, they went with an understated color palette of light pinks, green and pops of blue (to complement the ocean.) Florals were primarily greenery and neutral, again to complement the existing beauty of the island. Design elements – Greenery and candles were spread down the centers of the tables. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were repurposed as table arrangements.
The bride went for a timeless, elegant, classic and unique gown, whose name was shared with Celeste’s paternal grandmother, Helen. The "Helen" is a crepe plunging mermaid gown with draped French tulle sleeves, and architectural bow (pulled from a website, not my words.) Additionally, Celeste wore her Nana’s aquamarine ring, given to her by her husband from his travels. The event was on grass, so Celeste looked for comfortable block heels that were open-toe. Celeste’s mom found some Sarah Flint heels that were perfect height. Jason chose a navy blue tuxedo. Classy but not formal.

Personalize it...from the bride : "We had a garter and small bouquet of flowers prepared that were handed to the father and mother of Jason’s late groomsman, Alex. Celeste’s bridesmaid, who would have walked with Alex, handed the symbolic flowers to Alex’s parents when she walked down the aisle. As Alex was there in spirit, we included him on our wedding site as a groomsmen as well. We also lost Celeste’s grandmother in the year prior, which was unexpected and devastating. Going through Nana’s room, Celeste had found a framed photo Nana kept, which pictured Nana, Celeste’s mom, and Celeste at the Arlington Cinderella Charity Ball ten years prior. Celeste had worn a wedding gown for the Ball, and the three of them had talked about how the next time she would wear a wedding gown would be special. Unfortunately Nana wasn’t there to celebrate. The framed photo with Nana was set-up on the head table near Celeste. First dance – Celeste’s maid of honor Cynthia helped choreograph the first dance to Dancin’ in the Moonlight, which was a ton of fun to perform for all family and friends. (The choreography was a secret to everyone!) Cynthia and Celeste bonded over their love and enjoyment of fine arts, which included dancing. Cynthia was classically trained in ballet and went on to perform musical theatre in NYC. Last dance – The last dance was supposed to be private, because it was a special song for Jason and Celeste. Jason wanted that moment for just the two of us, probably because it was a Taylor Swift song. Somehow the dance ended up not being private, but the bride and groom rolled with it; and close friends said it was their favorite part of the night – getting to watch the newlyweds have that moment together.Harp – One of Celeste’s good friends plays the harp, and she played while everyone walked down the aisle. It was very special."
My main take away from their day : “Celeste reminded me the day of the wedding that she wanted to be present in the moment, to take it in and once spend the whole night with Jason. I loved her intention and her attention to it.”
