A Cedar Room Celebration

A live-and-let-live type of couple, the day was centered around the concept that everyone attending is part of the celebration. A short and sweet ceremony and reception setup to ensure everyone could eat, dance or smoke a cigar!

Brides perspective : Special touches included flowers in my bouquet and my mothers bouquet to incorporate memories of my grandmothers in heaven. The cigar factory was a huge space, so Caroline with Engaging Events was given free rein to run with it keeping in mind we wanted the space to feel comfortable and a cigar area. After our first meeting, I trusted that she knew what she was doing and “got us”. She found a way to pull the ceiling down through the use of fabric which cozied it up. We used floral arrangements to optically give an experience using the different vase heights and shapes. Since we were at the cigar factor, we selected a local cigar roller to develop a blend for our day.

Shrimp & grits and chicken & waffles were a must for the kiddos and adults alike. The cigar factory and indigo roads provided a one of a kind menu with incredible tastings! We selected deviled eggs, pork belly hot buns and others to make it very specific to our southern wedding.

The first dress that I tried on was The Dress! The goal was comfortable enough to dance the night away! My mother was married in a beautiful lace veil and I used this as inspiration on my dress choices as well. Balancing being a mom and a bride, I wanted to be a role model for my 6 year old daughter, who was standing beside me the entire day while showing my fashion side by choosing amazing Christian Louboutin shoes! This allowed me to show my personality with every step of the day (down the aisle or on the dance floor).

Musing on the day... Yes, Yes, Yes to a first look! We were able to have a moment before the wedding and where we could take a breathe and remember what today is really about. Seeing my boys dressed up, beside Dan and my girl dressed up, beside me, I will cherish that moment for the rest of my life.

Have the right planner for any out-of-town wedding. They know the vendors better and can help guide you to the choices versus spending so many hours and trips trying to get to the same place. All of our vendors were because I rightfully trusted Caroline! I wouldn’t change a thing about our beautiful day and am thankful for our wonderful photographers (MCG Photography) for the memories to cherish forever!
