Guide: Charleston Elopement

So glad you are here and delving into what makes a Charleston elopement extra special. This post is abundant with Charleston elopement locations, our elopement photography offerings, local elopement officiants along with Elopement Tips and Tricks, all pertaining to eloping in the Charleston SC area.

Eloping vs having a full on wedding. Eloping allows freedom and authenticity of crafting a day that 100% aligns with you as a couple and your priorities. There are endless choices when planning your elopement - do your vows privately, religious and/or spiritual and/or poetic, adventure in nature, bring your dog as a witness, invite parents only, embrace your introverted selves, say vows now and throw a party later. Planning a day that amplifies your joy and celebrates your love is the goal. Include who you want. You will carry your loved ones with you whether they are present or not.

Our starting point is to decide on your Charleston elopement location. Charleston SC has a range of options from beach, river, historic downtown or enveloped in nature.

On the oceanfront, might we suggest a villa on Kiawah or luxe accommodations at Sanctuary hotel. The beach is pretty wide so there is usually a private spot. If you love a semi-salty beach vibe with delish food and fun bars…Folly Beach is your beach. There are rentals for every size group and a boutique hotel on the bay side, Folly Regatta Inn.

In historic downtown Charleston, we are highlighting boutique onsite experiences complete with privacy and a step away from classic Charleston city scenes. Wentworth Mansion is dog friendly andknown for it’s twirling staircase to the rooftop Cupola. Planter’s Inn offers privacy while being smack dab in the middle of everything and it’s coconut cake is a must. John Rutledge House Inn with it’s grande suites and balcony setting for vows on Broad Street. Charleston Library Society is another gem if you are a book lover.

Amongst the trees, Angel Oak on Johns Island is a landmark location to say vows under majestic branches. Charles Towne Landing is approx 15 minutes from downtown in West Ashley with stunning with an alley of oaks, water elements and exploring what feels like secret gardens. Middleton Place and Middleton Inn is approx 30 minutes from downtown Charleston with a quiet feel of nature infused goodness. It is an eat, stay, wonder and say your vows all-in-one.

Eloping in Charleston can look like whatever you want, and should be as unique and authentic as your relationship.
