Formal Family Portraits : Customs House

Formal Family Portraits

So many milestones and celebrations were postponed, paused or cancelled during 2020. These sisters b’ not mitzvah (when two or more girls or women celebrate a bat mitzvah together) was postponed. While technology allowed friends and family to witness their rite of passage in the synagogue, their party did not happen. And they are kids and teens, so what fits today might not fit tomorrow. We did their family portraits in their party suits and gowns.

The Custom House in downtown Charleston was the perfect background for the elegance of their attire and the hints of blue in the building. The architecture consisting of stairs, grey and white patterned floor, pillars, stonework and doorways allowed us a multi-background space within just a few steps.

My fingers are crossed that we created a mini-celebration and beautiful memories of this pivotal time.

If you do annual family portraits, consider interspersing a little sparkle and fancy now again. Charleston has endless streets were the polished look shines.

“Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.” - Earl Nightingale
