Charleston Customs House : family portrait

Our weather kept shifting and we needed a rainy day back-up location. We landed on the Charleston Custom House which has deep overhangs to tuck under and lots of variety when the storm cleared. This is a great spot with stairs, photographing from above, clean lines and varied simple backdrops. Depending on the couple or family it can lend itself to traditional or modern.

I originally met the mom when photographing her grand-mother years ago. It was a double treat to document her with the next generation years later. Often times, once the kiddos have grown…the family portraits get paused, but photographing the relationships in adult families has it’s own magic.
