How does an art project begin? This one started by borrowing a friend’s point-and-shoot camera that had been altered to capture in infrared for a family excursion to New Zealand. We learned quickly that people come out creepy but landscapes, water, sky and architecture really shine in infrared. After posting images after the trip a family friend saw the slideshow and began to imagine images of his lake house town (Livingston, TX) documented while the area was relatively undeveloped. A conversation became an invitation and the invitation became a journey. With a list of special spots, and then some exploration scouting, we documented Lake Livingston from the earth and the sky. The bounty of images, culled and edited, became 3 different installations and two art books. With the last collection printed, framed and shipped, we look forward to the next collaboration.
