Amy Coy Forum and 1858 Prize Party, Gibbes Museum

Two nights back to back at the Gibbes Museum to educate and celebrate Southern art. Society 1858's mission to inspire discussion and excite up-and-coming arts patrons about the diverse range of artwork being created in the contemporary South. The Society 1858 is a member auxiliary made up of young professionals to support the Gibbes Museum with social and educational programming focused on up-and-coming art patrons.

The Amy Coy Forum honored 2019 Prize Winner, Donte K. Hayes. He gave dynamic presentation filled with humor, factoids and inspiration. Donte shared his process of researching and following an idea until it becomes his art. The forum follow up gives the patrons an opportunity to hear from the artist and curators on the trends, challenges and gifts of today’s rising artists. The panel discussion is rich with observation and opinion that furthers the conversations of the Southern art.

The following evening, the Winter Party is black tie affair. Guests have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets on one-of-a-kind works. Each piece is created by pairs of artists working together in ceramics and multi-media to honor the 2019 Prize Winner, Donte K. Hayes.
