The Women’s Council brought in Eva Chen for the Gibbes Museum Art of Design luncheon. I am a sucker for the confident, trail-blazer that creates a life of her own design. I get a kick hearing about the pre-med major that pursued a career in fashion and her parents alarmed reaction. And I love hearing about how the un-charted career and life is made.
In Eva style, she is a selfie super star. She has a signature instagram post (#evachenpose) that includes her shoes of the day in a taxi with a piece of fruit. She frequently posts her travelling accommodations in videos that always find something unique element of the suite that makes it over the top elegant or home grown comfort. And her children’s book series of Juno Valentine are quirky, informative, imaginative and another avenue for her voice. She has blended all of these interests into a livelihood while being Instagram Fashion Editor.
The Art of Design luncheon is attended by some very fashion forward ladies. While the outfits are fun, my eyes tend to drift to the shoes and the hand-bags. I am kind of plain jane myself, but the accessories are kind of like photo-candy. There is always a creative display from local floral artists Jane and Gretchen. They have made model live gowns of florals, table set-ups straight from the set of Downton Abby and this year a floral instagram inspired selfie-wall. To finish it off, the food it almost too pretty to eat. Salthouse Catering are foodie artists.
