Kiawah Island Family Portraits - Neutral Palette

During the summertime, we spend many sunsets on Kiawah photographing families. Our favorite light is the hour before sunset for soft, eye friendly, skin friendly light. Depending on where clients are staying on the island we often start in the green spaces before making our way to the beach.

This session was full of awesome in-between moments beyond traditional portraits. We are grateful when parents allow the kiddos to be kiddos and capture More than what they may have envisioned… family portraits and life in motion.

Love this color palette on neutrals and blue. We suggest the parents be in the neutral and the kids be in colors or patterns. Since the kiddos are so much smaller, the contrast helps pull focus to them.

Last little tidbit from this session. Sometime splashes or tumbles happen. Instead of that being the sessions end, we simply to an outfit adjustment and turn the front side to the back side. Little dudes with elastic waistbands or little ladies with dresses that are cute front and back have saved many sessions:)
