Gibbes and Ghouls
Photo-candy for me. Yes please!
Gibbes and Ghouls, a FREE family-friendly and kid-centric event of tricks and treats at the Gibbes Museum. Included access to the museum, plus…
-Story Time with Charleston County Public Library
-Draw Along + Book Signing with local illustrator Tim Banks
-Monster Moves Dance Party with Ms. Lu
Gibbes staff and volunteers passed out treats and charms throughout the museum.
The kiddos showed up in the costumes. Buzz Lightyear, a knight, many princesses, hot dogs, mimes, witches, mermaids and the list goes on. For my part, I would ask the kiddos to pose in front of their favorite piece of art. Their choices of art, their expressions and their poses remind me that kids know how to play. They want to laugh. They appreciate the silly. They thrive in expression.
Program was made possible through the generous support of the ArtBridges Foundation Access for All.
Dress Up
Kendall was a beautiful queen
With a tiara and ballroom dress in green
Standing by the mirror, she stood
Kendall is Little Red Riding Hood.
Dressed as a ballerina, angel, fairy, and rocker in cleats
A puckered lip to look charming and sweet
Tomorrow, the dress will be a zombie, devil, pirate, or witch
No more beauty; it's time for an evil switch.
A puppy who gives a yelp
A superhero, doctor, or nurse who can help.
Adventure can be found in a whirl
As Kendall changes into an Indian or cowgirl.
From the rising of the sun,
Kendall's day has begun.
Whatever her fantasy,
That is what Kendall will be.
