Gibbes : Art Charleston 2025
Art Charleston 2025 was fashion forward from the beginning to end. Kicking off the Art of Design Luncheon with Vogue editor and creator of Over the Moon in conversation with Hill House Home’s, Nell Diamond. Followed by The Street Party event that is a favorite among the Charleston foodies. One of a kind, Sew Surreal invited designers to create themes around pieces of art from the Gibbes collections. To top is off, Youtube Influencer Forums, tours around town, Artisan Fairs and School of the Arts designer style shows all created a full week of photo goodness.
Art of Design is one of the Museum’s leading fundraisers put on by the The Gibbes Women’s Council. The Council supports the Museum through the time, talents, and resources of its members. Members of the Women’s Council vote on how funds are allocated, and proceeds directly support exhibitions, education programming, or the general operating budget. Since the renovation, it is hosted in Gibbes’ Lenhardt Garden and catered by Salthouse catering. The florals are a creation in and of themselves.
Street Party is a foodie Charleston Experience of world-renowned culinary scene. The event features over twenty local chefs who bring their signature flavors to bite size dishes. Meet the chefs and find your next restaurant.
Sew Surreal is a fashion show of Charleston-based designers will showcase one-of-a-kind capsule collections inspired by works on view at the Gibbes. The models walk the runway with their selected Gibbes piece projected in order to see the threads of connection between art and fashion. Designers and their brands included:

Artisan Fair wraps up the week with curated local artist and vendors throughout the museum. It is casual, kid-friendly and free to the public. Charleston County School of the Arts (SOA) hosted Fashion Design showcase upstairs in the rotunda.
